1+1=10! (Unified Power of a Team)

Stephen Covey said, “interdependent people combine their own efforts with the efforts of others to achieve their greatest success.” Michael Jordan said, “talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.”

I have been fortunate to see several great Denver real estate brokerage teams in action… first hand during my career. I always admired the way that good brokerage teammates complimented each other and helped smooth out the rough edges. It seems as if great teams actually produce more than the sum of their parts, and I always hoped that I could find a like-minded teammate where our individual strengths actually balanced each others weaknesses. When you find a working relationship like this, it feels like 1+1=10!

I can see our wives eyes rolling already… permission to get a little “bro-mantic”. The photo above is of my teammate, Greg Johnson, and I at my sister’s wedding last year. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words, and we believe that our 2.5 year working relationship and friendship is captured in this photo.

Dave Ramsey’s book, EntreLeadership, has an entire chapter called “People Matter Most,” which is devoted to office/organizational teams. Dave shares that the Belgian draft horse is one of the largest, strongest horses in the world. Competitions are held to see which horse can pull the most, and one Belgian can pull 8,000 pounds. The weird thing is if you put two Belgian horses in the harness who are strangers to each other, together they can pull 20,000-24,000 pounds. Two horses can pull x2 as much as one, but x3 as much as one horse. This example represents the power of synergy. However, if the two horses are raised and trained together they learn to pull and think as one. The trained, and therefore unified, pair can pull not only 24,000 pounds, but will hit 30,000-32,000 pounds. The unified pair can pull x4 more than a single horse. They can pull an extra 8,000 pounds simply by being unified.

Greg and I had a phenomenal year in 2014 – closing $52,000,000 in real estate transactions throughout last. We look forward to building on that success in 2015 and beyond. We are your Central Denver apartment experts, and we will “see you around the neighborhood!”
